The Aion S was the launch model for GAC's electric brand in 2019 and quickly became a common sight on Chinese city streets thanks to large ride-hailing and taxi orders. It is a compact front-drive sedan on the GEP platform with a single motor of roughly 135 kW. Regular updates raised its claimed range from about 410 km to more than 500 km before the Plus and Max derivatives took over.
