The M7 was revealed in 2022. It moved AITO up a class with a six-seat, mid-to-large SUV aimed at family buyers. It again used a range-extender drivetrain, and battery-electric versions came later. Sales weakened in 2023. Seres and Huawei responded with the fully re-engineered New M7 of September 2023. It improved body stiffness, ride and safety, and offered Huawei's ADS 2.0 assisted driving with lidar. The relaunch became one of the biggest turnarounds in the Chinese market: it drew more than 50,000 firm orders in its first month and more than 100,000 in under three months.
The AITO M7 is a mid-to-large three-row SUV launched in 2022. It is sold mainly as an EREV: a petrol range-extender feeds the electric drivetrain, so the total range is long and there is no need to worry about charging. After a full re-engineering and relaunch in September 2023, it drew more than 100,000 firm orders in under three months and became AITO's main sales driver. It relies heavily on Huawei's HarmonyOS cockpit and the Huawei ADS driver-assistance system, including LiDAR-based urban assisted driving on higher trims. The M7 built AITO's reputation for putting top-level smart-car technology into a family car.
