STORY

The Alfa Romeo 156 arrived in 1997 and won European Car of the Year in 1998, credited with reviving Alfa's fortunes with Walter de Silva's hidden-rear-door styling. It introduced the JTD common-rail diesel and later added a Sportwagon estate and the 250 bhp Busso V6 156 GTA. It also enjoyed touring-car success, winning multiple European Touring Car Championships.
