STORY

The Alfa Romeo Alfetta, launched in 1972, took its name from the championship-winning 158/159 Grand Prix cars and used a rear-mounted transaxle with a de Dion rear axle for near-ideal weight distribution. Offered as a saloon and the elegant GT/GTV coupé, it was praised for its balanced handling. It remained in production, with a 1983 facelift, until 1987.
