STORY

The Disco Volante ('flying saucer') was a series of experimental sports-racing cars built in 1952 on the 1900 chassis, bodied by Carrozzeria Touring with a radically aerodynamic, wind-tunnel-developed teardrop shape. Only a handful were built, in spyder, coupe and 'fianchi stretti' (narrow-sided) forms. In 2012 Touring Superleggera revived the name with a limited coachbuilt coupe based on the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione.
