Homologation special of the Bertone coupe, the GTA 1600 used a twin-plug 1.6-litre twin-cam and a lightweight riveted aluminium body (Alleggerita). Race-tuned versions produced up to about 170 hp and dominated European touring-car racing.

STORY

The 105-series Giulia Sprint GT and its Bertone-bodied Coupe descendants were among Alfa's most celebrated cars, styled by a young Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone. Introduced in 1963, the line evolved through the GT, GT Veloce, 1750 and 2000 GTV, and the homologation-special GTA. Its crisp 'scalino' (step-front) coupe body became an enduring icon of 1960s design.
