Alpina was founded in 1965 by Burkard Bovensiepen in Buchloe, Bavaria, and for decades developed tuned BMW road cars such as the B7 and B10 V8. In early 2026 BMW Group introduced BMW ALPINA as its own luxury brand, with a new word mark and emblem, after taking over the name.
The Vision BMW ALPINA was shown at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in May 2026 and is the first concept developed fully under BMW Group ownership. It is a one-of-one four-seat grand touring coupe, 5,200 mm long, powered by a petrol V8 with no hybrid system. Its shark-nose front end references the B7 Coupe based on the E24 6 Series.
BMW says the concept is not scheduled for production. The first customer BMW ALPINA model is expected in 2027, likely based on the 7 Series or X7.
