STORY
Announced in September 1959, the DB4 GT was a lightweight, high-performance DB4 built for racing and fast road use. It rode a shorter wheelbase, wore thinner aluminium panels and faired-in headlamps, and carried a twin-plug version of the 3.7-litre six with three twin-choke Weber carburettors making 302 bhp.
Capable of 153 mph and 0-60 in about 6.1 seconds, it was for a time the fastest road-legal production car in the world. Just 75 were built with this body between 1959 and 1963, making it one of the rarest and most collectible DB Astons.
In 2017 Aston Martin Works revived it: 25 track-only "DB4 GT Continuation" cars were hand-built at Newport Pagnell to lightweight specification, faithful to the original but with modern safety and engineering.
