STORY

The Audi 90 arrived with the 1984 facelift of the 80 as a more upmarket version of Audi's compact saloon with larger engines. It was distinguished by its five-cylinder engines: a 2.0-litre with 115 PS and a 2.2-litre with 136 PS. It gave buyers a smoother, more powerful alternative to the four-cylinder 80, with the same practical, well-built body.

The 90 gave its name to one of Audi's most spectacular racing cars, the 90 quattro IMSA GTO. The 90 itself was the more luxurious branch of the 80/90 family, which was later merged into the Audi A4.
