The Story

Why the Abt-Audi TT-R matters

The Abt-Audi TT-R was a DTM touring car run by Abt Sportsline of Kempten as a private entry when the series restarted in 2000, at a time when Audi had no factory team. The four 2000 cars used a 460 PS V8 supplied by Heini Mader. In 2002 Laurent Aiello won the drivers' title with 70 points, beating the Mercedes-Benz and Opel factory teams, and Abt finished second in the teams' standings with 85 points. The TT-R raced through 2003, when Audi was second in the manufacturers' table. Audi returned with a factory A4 DTM in 2004.
