STORY

The F103 was the car that revived the Audi name in 1965, after Volkswagen took over Auto Union from Daimler-Benz. It kept the DKW-derived front-wheel-drive layout but replaced the two-stroke with a new four-stroke engine from Ludwig Kraus, and it was sold as the Audi 72 and, from 1966, the Audi 80 and Super 90.

In 1968 the line was renamed by output: the Audi 60, 75 and Super 90, with the 1.5 and 1.8 litre engines. A Variant estate was offered, sold in the United States as the Super 90 Variant. The F103 was replaced in 1972 by the Audi 80 (B1), a different car, and it laid the ground for the 100 and the later Audi range.
