STORY
The RS 6 opened in July 2002 on the C5 A6 with a 4.2-litre biturbo V8 of 331 kW (450 PS), the Avant first and the saloon shortly after, and was the first RS model Audi exported to North America, where only the saloon was offered and only for 2003. An RS 6 plus of 2004 took the C5 to 353 kW (480 PS) in 999 Avants for Europe alone. The C6, shown at Frankfurt in September 2007, moved to a 5.0-litre V10 TFSI at 426 kW (580 PS). The C7 of December 2012 settled on a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo of 412 kW (560 PS) and on the Avant alone, with a performance version at 445 kW (605 PS) in October 2015; neither C6 nor C7 was sold in America. Audi revealed the C8 in August 2019 at 441 kW (600 PS), the first RS 6 Avant sold in the United States, raised it to 463 kW (630 PS) in November 2022, and built 660 Avant GTs in 2024.
