STORY
Audi presented the SQ5 TDI in June 2012 around the Le Mans 24 Hours: the first S model with a diesel engine and the first S-badged SUV, a 3.0 V6 with two turbochargers, 230 kW (313 PS) and 650 Nm through an eight-speed tiptronic and quattro. North America was given a petrol version instead, a supercharged 3.0 TFSI shown in Detroit in January 2013. The second-generation car, premiered in Detroit in January 2017, dropped the supercharger for a twin-scroll turbo inside the V, rated at 260 kW (354 PS) and 500 Nm. In February 2019 the diesel came back with a 48-volt electric powered compressor and 255 kW (347 PS); the facelift of November 2020 settled at 251 kW (341 PS) and added a Sportback body. A third generation followed in September 2024 on the PPC platform, with a 270 kW 3.0 TFSI.
