STORY
The Cabriolet reached the market in May 1991, derived from the B3 Coupé rather than from a saloon, with four seats and a soft top that folded fully away. A 98 kW 2.3-litre five-cylinder opened the range, a 128 kW 2.8-litre V6 joined in November 1992, then a 2.0-litre four, a 110 kW 2.6-litre V6 and a 1.9 TDI in 1995, and a five-valve 1.8-litre four in 1997. Quattro drive was never offered, so every car drove its front wheels. Assembly started in Ingolstadt and passed to Karmann with the 1997 update, which kept the convertible on sale years after the 80 and the Coupé it came from had been dropped. About 72,000 were built before production ended in 2000.
