STORY

The Audi Coupe was a liftback coupe version of the Audi 80, first shown in 1980 and sharing its bodywork with the Audi Quattro. The first generation (B2) had naturally aspirated four- and five-cylinder engines from 1.6 to 2.3 litres. The Coupe quattro with permanent four-wheel drive became an option in September 1984, and about 8,000 were built through 1988.

The second generation (B3) arrived in October 1988 as a three-door liftback. The turbocharged S2 Coupe, with a 2.2-litre five-cylinder engine and standard quattro, was built from September 1990 to 1995. A 2.8-litre V6 version followed in September 1991. The Coupe stayed in production until December 1996, while the Cabriolet, introduced in May 1991, continued until 2000.
