STORY

The Audi R15 TDI succeeded the R10 as Audi's diesel Le Mans prototype, powered by a V10 TDI engine. Its main achievement came at the 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans, where Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas and Mike Rockenfeller covered 5,410.713 km over 397 laps.

That run broke a 39-year-old distance record, set in an era before chicanes slowed the Mulsanne straight. It shows the exceptional efficiency and pace of Audi's diesel programme. The R15 continued the line of winning diesels between the first R10 and the hybrid R18 that followed.
