The Audi S1 EKS RX quattro was Mattias Ekström's car in the FIA World Rallycross Championship, a two-litre turbo four-wheel-drive machine with about 560 hp and 750 Nm held back by an air restrictor. In 2016 Ekström, running as a privateer with Toomas Heikkinen as team mate, won four rounds and the drivers' title, and EKS took the teams' title. Audi Sport then gave the team factory support. In 2017 Ekström won four of twelve races and finished runner-up, with EKS third in the teams' standings. For 2018 the car got a new aerodynamic package and about 580 hp under tighter limits on engines, turbochargers and tyres. Ekström was runner-up again with Andreas Bakkerud third, EKS was second in the teams' table, and Audi ended its rallycross involvement.
