STORY

The FX4 was the London black cab from 1958. Austin supplied the mechanical parts and Carbodies built the body and assembled the cab, and production moved to Carbodies in 1982. Early cabs had Austin diesel engines, and later ones used Land Rover and Nissan diesels. An updated version called the Fairway appeared in 1989 and stayed in production until 1997, when the TX1 replaced it.
