STORY

The 328 Mille Miglia is the name for the competition versions of the BMW 328 that took part in Italy's famous road race. The high point was outright victory at the 1940 Gran Premio Brescia, which was run in place of the traditional Mille Miglia. The winning car was a Touring-bodied 328 Coupé driven by Huschke von Hanstein and Walter Bäumer. Its aerodynamic 'superleggera' bodywork and 2.0-litre six made it one of the fastest 2-litre racing cars of its era and added to the 328's reputation in motorsport.
