STORY
The BMW 6 Series has always been BMW's stylish grand-touring coupe, sitting above the 3 and blending long-distance comfort with genuine pace. The original E24, produced from 1976 into the late 1980s, was a handsome shark-nosed coupe whose top version, the M635CSi (sold as the M6 in the US), used the M1's 24-valve straight-six to become one of the great GT cars of its day.
After the E24 gave way to the 8 Series, BMW revived the 6 Series name in 2003 with a larger, more overtly luxurious grand tourer, again crowned by an M6. This one packed the E60 M5's spectacular V10. Across its generations the 6 Series has served as BMW's elegant flagship coupe, a showcase for design and effortless cross-country ability.
