STORY

The BMW 7 Series has been the company's flagship since 1977, the car on which BMW shows its most advanced luxury and technology. The first-generation E23 set the pattern: a large, driver-focused executive sedan competing with the Mercedes S-Class, but tuned to be enjoyable to drive rather than just to ride in with a chauffeur.

The E32 that followed in 1986 made history as the first German post-war passenger car with a V12 engine, in the 750i. Since then the 7 Series has repeatedly led BMW's technology, from early navigation and iDrive to today's electric i7. The aim has always been the same: limousine comfort with a sporting edge that its rivals traditionally lacked.
