STORY
The BMW M6 is the M division's high-performance grand tourer based on the 6 Series. The name first appeared on the E24 M635CSi of the 1980s, sold as the M6 in North America and powered by the M1-derived M88 straight-six, making it one of the fastest coupes of its day. The nameplate was revived in 2005 with the E63 M6, which shared the E60 M5's spectacular 507 hp S85 V10 and was offered as a coupe and convertible. A second modern generation, the F13 M6, arrived in 2012 as a coupe, convertible and four-door Gran Coupe using a twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8. Production ended in 2018, with the M6 effectively succeeded by the new flagship M8.
