STORY

The BMW iX is the technological flagship of BMW's electric range, a large luxury SUV designed from the ground up as an EV and used to debut the company's newest hardware and software. Launched in 2021, it showcases a fifth-generation electric drive system, long range, fast charging and a minimalist, lounge-like cabin built around a curved display.

Like the earlier i3 and i8, the iX makes extensive use of lightweight construction, including carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic in its structure to offset battery weight. Positioned as a rolling statement of where BMW's design and engineering are heading, the iX pairs the practicality of an SUV with the refinement expected of a flagship, and serves as the spearhead of BMW's transition to electric power.
