The M Concept Neue Klasse is a design and technology study that shows how BMW M plans to move to electric drive. It was presented at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June 2026, the endurance race where BMW M also competes with its M Hybrid V8 prototype, and follows the Neue Klasse production cars that began with the iX3.
The concept uses a four-motor drivetrain called M eDrive, with the motors controlled by the M Dynamic Performance Control software running on the Heart of Joy central computer. It is built on an 800 V architecture with a battery above 100 kWh using sixth-generation cylindrical cells.
BMW has not published output figures and has not named a production model. Several outlets expect it to preview an electric M3, but this is not confirmed by BMW.
