The New Six is the name given to the E3 series of large BMW saloons built in 1968-1977. The name refers to the new straight-six engines of the family. The first cars were the 2500 and the 2800. The 3.0 S followed in 1971, together with a fuel-injected 3.0 Si. In 1974 BMW added the long-wheelbase 3.3 L, the top model of the series. The E3 was replaced by the first 7 Series in 1977.
