STORY
The BMW X3 is the brand's compact premium SUV and one of its highest-volume models. Launched in 2003 as the E83, engineered with Magna Steyr on a 3 Series platform, it pioneered the compact 'Sports Activity Vehicle' segment with standard xDrive all-wheel drive and on-road-focused dynamics. Successive generations (F25 2010, G01 2017, G45 2024) grew more refined and spawned high-performance derivatives: the M40i, the full-fat X3 M with its S58 twin-turbo six, and the fully electric iX3. Now built on several continents, the X3 anchors BMW's SUV line-up between the X1 and X5.
