STORY

The BMW X3 is the brand's compact premium SUV and one of its highest-volume models. It launched in 2003 as the E83, engineered with Magna Steyr on a 3 Series platform. It was a pioneer of the compact 'Sports Activity Vehicle' segment, with standard xDrive all-wheel drive and handling focused on the road. Successive generations (F25 2010, G01 2017, G45 2024) became more refined and gave rise to high-performance versions: the M40i, the full X3 M with its S58 twin-turbo six, and the fully electric iX3. Now built on several continents, the X3 sits between the X1 and X5 in BMW's SUV line-up.
