STORY

The BMW X6 created the coupe-SUV, or 'Sports Activity Coupe' in BMW's terms, when the original E71 launched in 2008. It combined the practicality and height of the X5 with a fastback roofline. Many criticised it at launch, but it opened a profitable new niche that rivals rushed to copy. Three generations have followed (E71 2008, F16 2014, G06 2019), each sharing its basis with the X5 of the time and each offered in a powerful V8-powered X6 M form. The current car has an illuminated kidney grille and mild-hybrid power.
