STORY

The BMW X6 invented the coupe-SUV, or 'Sports Activity Coupe' in BMW's terms, when the original E71 launched in 2008, pairing the practicality and height of the X5 with a dramatic fastback roofline. Though widely criticised at launch, it created a lucrative new niche that rivals rushed to copy. Three generations (E71 2008, F16 2014, G06 2019) have followed, each shared with the contemporary X5 and offered in potent V8-powered X6 M form, with the current car featuring an illuminated kidney grille and mild-hybrid power.
