V5

2012 – 2020

The Brilliance V5 is a compact SUV built under the Zhonghua brand and launched in China in late 2011. It sits above the smaller V3 in the lineup. It was built on the platform of the H530 sedan, and its styling closely resembled the BMW X1. Engines were a Mitsubishi-derived 1.6 and a 1.5-liter turbo. It was Brilliance's mainstream family crossover, roomier and more upscale than the V3 at a value price. The V5 was the core of the Zhonghua SUV range during China's SUV boom of the mid-2010s.

The Story

Why the V5 matters

The Brilliance V5 (2011-) was a compact Zhonghua crossover whose styling closely resembled the BMW X1. It was built on Brilliance's own H530 sedan platform with a Mitsubishi-derived 1.6 or a 1.5-litre turbo engine, and it marked Brilliance's entry into China's SUV boom.
