The F3 compact sedan entered production in 2005. By CAAM figures it led China's sedan sales in the first quarter of 2010 with 92,900 cars and again from January to May with 138,000, ahead of the Hyundai Yue Dong at 99,500. Its plug-in version, the F3DM, went on sale in December 2008 to Chinese government and corporate fleets, and the Qin later replaced that hybrid. BYD dropped the F3 from its range in 2021.
The F3 is a compact sedan launched in 2005 that became one of BYD's earliest sales successes and a best-seller in China. Powered by conventional gasoline engines, it was known for offering roomy, affordable family transport. Its commercial success helped fund BYD's expansion and later move into electrified vehicles. It represents BYD's foundational ICE sedan era.
