The G6 went on sale in China on 26 September 2011 as the official successor to the F6, and like it was sold only as a four-door sedan. Two engines were offered: a 2.0-litre petrol four, and a 1.5-litre turbocharged four rated at 113 kW (154 PS). In March 2012 BYD put a 1.5TID version with a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox on sale in place of the earlier top trim. The F6 it replaced had been on sale since 2007.
The G6 is a mid-size gasoline sedan produced by BYD from 2011 as the successor to the F6. Offered with 1.5-liter turbo and 2.0-liter engines, it targeted business and family buyers seeking a larger, more comfortable saloon. It belonged to BYD's conventional ICE portfolio before the shift to full electrification. It represents BYD's earlier mid-size sedan efforts.
