The Qin L DM-i launched in Xi'an on 28 May 2024 beside its Ocean-series twin, the Seal 06 DM-i, as the first two cars with BYD's fifth-generation DM system. It started at 99,800 yuan and used a 74 kW 1.5 L engine with a 10.08 or 15.874 kWh battery, giving 80 or 120 km of CLTC electric range. The DM-i is 4,830 mm long, longer than the Qin Plus (4,765 mm). The Qin L EV followed in March 2025 on e-Platform 3.0 Evo, from 119,800 yuan, with 46.08 or 56.64 kWh packs and 470 or 545 km CLTC. Its twin, the Seal 06 EV, launched in June 2025.
The Qin L is a larger compact-to-mid sedan expanding the Qin family, offered with efficient DM-i plug-in hybrid and electric powertrains. It uses BYD's latest DM technology and Blade LFP battery to deliver very low fuel consumption and long combined range. Positioned above the standard Qin Plus, it targets buyers wanting a roomier efficient sedan.
