STORY

The Allante was a two-seat luxury roadster built from 1987 to 1993. Pininfarina designed its bodies and built them in Italy, and they were flown to Detroit for final assembly on the so-called 'Airbridge.' It targeted the Mercedes-Benz SL but struggled early on with its front-wheel-drive layout and underpowered V8s. It found its footing only in 1993, its final year, with the 295-hp Northstar V8, just as it was discontinued.
