STORY
The car later named Cross Eastar was launched on 6 June 2006 in Shenzhen as the Chery V5. The first version, the V525, had a 2.4-litre engine, and a 2.0-litre ACTECO V520 was announced for later that year. It is a five-door wagon-style minivan seating up to seven, built on the upgraded second-generation Eastar platform. In June 2008 Chery added a 1.8-litre ACTECO version rated at 97 kW and 170 N·m, which reportedly performed better than the Mitsubishi 4G64 2.4-litre engine. In September 2009 the new Rely brand brought back the V5 name for a version based on the Dongfang Zhizi Cross, with 1.8 and 2.0-litre engines instead of the 2.4.
