Elara is the name under which Ukraine sold the Chery A5, a compact sedan built in China from 2006. Chery launched the A5 in 2006: 6,800 were sold in one month and 6,295 were exported during 2006, more than half of China's mid-class vehicle exports that year. The A516 with a 1.6-litre ACTECO engine reached Beijing showrooms on 28 July 2006, and petrol engines of 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 litres were used in the A5. The same car was the Fora in Russia. The Cowin 3 update and, from July 2011, the E5 followed it in China.
