STORY

The first-generation Chery QQ, internal code S11 and later called QQ3, entered production in 2003 as a small five-door hatchback. The base engine was a 0.8 litre three-cylinder rated at 38 kW (52 PS) and 77 Nm, in a body 3,550 mm long on a 2,340 mm wheelbase. Its look drew a lawsuit from GM Daewoo in December 2004, which said the QQ copied the Matiz sold in Korea and the Spark sold in China. The case was settled, as reported on 18 November 2005, and the QQ stayed on sale. More than a million QQs of all types had been built.
