STORY

The Bel Air was Chevrolet's flagship full-size car when it appeared in 1950, and it became a symbol of 1950s American styling. The 1955-1957 'Tri-Five' models, with their chrome, the tailfins of the 1957 cars and an optional small-block V8, are among the most collectible cars of their era. In later generations it moved down in status as newer, more expensive models arrived, and it stayed in the lineup into the 1970s.
