STORY

The 2017 Bolt EV carried an EPA rating of 238 miles, and Motor Trend named it its 2017 Car of the Year in November 2016. For 2022 Chevrolet refreshed the car, revealed in February 2021 with a 65 kWh battery, an expected 259 miles of range before EPA certification and a price of $31,995 including destination. In August 2021 GM widened a battery recall to cover 2019 through 2022 cars, about 73,000 more vehicles, after LG cells were found with a torn anode tab and a folded separator. In April 2023 GM said Bolt production would end by the end of that year, with the Orion plant to be converted to electric pickups.
