STORY

The first Camaro was a 1967 model, and the Z/28 that went with it was built to fit the SCCA Trans-Am category limit around a 302 cubic inch V8. Chevrolet rated that engine at 290 hp and built 602 Z/28s in the first year. The Camaro came back as a 2010 model, with production starting in March 2009, built in Oshawa, Ontario, and the SS reached 426 hp with the manual gearbox. Chevrolet announced in March 2023 that production at Lansing Grand River would end, with the last cars due in 2023.
