STORY

The Suburban Carryall appeared in 1935 as an all-steel wagon body on a commercial chassis, seating eight behind a 60 hp inline-six. Art Deco styling followed in 1937. For 1973 it first offered a conventional four-door body, an all-new body arrived in 1992, and the ninth generation launched in 1999 as a 2000 model. The 2015 redesign brought a direct-injected EcoTec3 5.3-liter V8, and by 2020 a 6.2-liter V8 made 420 hp. Carscoops and ClassicCars call it the longest-running automotive nameplate, with continuous production since 1935.
