STORY

Chevrolet introduced the Express for the 1996 model year as the replacement for the G-series van, the first all-new full-size van from General Motors since 1971. The GMC Savana is its twin, and the main assembly plant is in Wentzville, Missouri. Cargo versions kept the Chevy Van name for a time after the passenger vans became Expresses. The van has stayed in production long past that start: it sold 58,578 units in 2025, its best year of the 2020s, and it stays in the range for the 2027 model year, about thirty years after the first Express.
