STORY

Fleetline first appeared late in the 1941 model year as the Special Deluxe Fleetline four-door sedan. A two-door fastback Aerosedan followed for 1942, and civilian production stopped in early 1942. Fleetline production resumed in 1946, and the Styleline name came with the first all-new postwar Chevrolet, shown at the Waldorf Astoria in New York in January 1949: a notchback Styleline and a fastback Fleetline, each in Special or DeLuxe trim, with a 216.5 cubic inch six rated at 90 hp. Powerglide arrived in 1950 with a 235 cubic inch six at 105 hp. For 1952 only a Deluxe two-door fastback remained, 37,164 built against 215,417 Deluxe two-door Styleline sedans, and the Fleetline was dropped for 1953.
