C4500 6.6 Duramax (2003)

STORY

The Kodiak of this record is the third generation of the name, the North American medium-duty truck GM developed as the GMT560 for the 2003 model year, with the GMC TopKick as its twin. The C4500, which replaced the 3500HD, was rated at 16,000 lb gross, the C5500 at 18,000 and 19,500 lb, and the C6500 to C8500 trucks reached gross vehicle weight ratings of up to 61,000 lb. The new 6.6 L Duramax diesel was offered at 210 or 300 hp, and the 8.1 L Vortec V8 ran on gasoline. GM filed for Chapter 11 in early June 2009 and planned to end Kodiak production by July 31, 2009.
