STORY

Chevrolet used the Malibu name from 1964 as the top series of the mid-size Chevelle, and the nameplate went out of production after 1983. For 1997 GM revived it on a front-drive sedan that replaced the Corsica, and Motor Trend named that car its 1997 Car of the Year. Later generations were mostly sedans in North America, apart from the Malibu Maxx liftback of 2004 to 2007. Production ended at the Fairfax plant in Kansas in November 2024, and the Malibu was the brand's last sedan.
