STORY

Chevrolet launched the Onix in Brazil in late 2012, a small hatchback designed specifically for the Brazilian market, and built it at Gravataí in Rio Grande do Sul. Although it was planned as a Brazil-only model, it still appeared on Chevrolet's Detroit auto show stand in January 2013. The Onix was Brazil's best-selling car in 2015, with 125,931 units against 122,364 for the Fiat Palio, according to Fenabrave figures reported by Exame and Motor.es. The second generation arrived in September 2019 with the Onix Plus sedan, and the hatchback followed in November.
