The Baojun 630 made its global show debut at Auto Shanghai in April 2011 as a sedan from the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture. Three years later, in late March 2014, GM showed a modified version of it at the Algiers motor show as the Chevrolet Optra, which Car News China called a rebadged Baojun 630, available at first only with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and with a 1.8-litre promised later. In April 2016 General Motors Egypt presented a locally manufactured Chevrolet Optra at its 6th of October City factory, priced at EGP 128,000, after an investment of EGP 110 million in the line and training.
The Optra (Baojun 630) is a compact sedan: the Chinese-built Baojun 630 badged as a Chevrolet for Algeria and Egypt from 2014. It is a different car from the Lacetti-based Optra.
