STORY

The Optra is the Canadian name for the small car Daewoo developed as the Lacetti. Canadian dealers sold it from 2004 as the Chevrolet Optra and Optra5, while in the United States the same car was rebadged as the Suzuki Forenza and Reno, so an Optra owner and a Forenza owner drove one design under two brands. A May 2005 Autoblog report on a touring-car concept still listed the Optra, the Forenza and the European Lacetti as names for the same body. The catalog keeps this Optra under the Lacetti generation for that reason. The name was reused in 2014 for a different car, the China-built Baojun 630 badged as the Chevrolet Optra and shown at the Algiers motor show in March 2014, then sold in Egypt from May 2014; that car is not covered by this page.
