The Story

Why the Prizm matters

The Prizm began in 1989 as a 1990 model under General Motors' Geo brand, a rebadged Toyota Corolla built at the NUMMI plant in Fremont, California. Geo was folded into Chevrolet after the 1997 model year, and the car continued as the Chevrolet Prizm from 1998. This model covers the Chevrolet-badged cars; the Geo-badged 1990 to 1997 cars are listed under Geo Prizm. Every Chevrolet Prizm was a four-door sedan in Base or LSi trim with the 1.8-liter 1ZZ-FE four-cylinder, which gained variable valve timing for 2000 and went from 120 to 125 hp. The last Prizm was built on December 13, 2001, and it was sold through the 2002 model year.
