The Sprint, often called the Geo Sprint although no such car was sold, was Chevrolet's version of the Suzuki Cultus, a small hatchback with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine. It reached US dealers in 1985, first in the western states, and a turbocharged version rated at 70 hp followed for 1987. For 1989 the United States dropped the name for the Geo Metro. The Sprint was also sold in Canada, where the Pontiac Firefly was a lightly retrimmed version of the same car.
The Sprint was a subcompact of the 1980s, Chevrolet's version of the Suzuki Cultus hatchback, sold in the United States from 1985 to 1988 and also in Canada. It offered high fuel economy as an entry-level car.
